Friday evening, the day of the official opening of the G20 summit, the Schanzenviertel district experienced long hours of clashes between the police and a few hundred self-employed people, under the watch, and sometimes encouragement, of other activists present.

For nearly six hours, a district of the city has fought hard by autonomous militants to prevent the police from entering it.
Several shops were attacked and looted. And the food or drinks distributed out to the people present.
At the eastern entrance to Schulterblatt, two flaming barricades form the reception committee. In the distance, other barricades also blaze. The whole street will count half a dozen for a few hours.
At midnight, tear-gas grenades scattered a first barricade, located to the west of the street. The Black block leaves the area to concentrate on the other barricade, about 300 meters away.
The street furniture is torn off to swell the barricades.
Shortly before one o’clock in the morning, the police finally dislodged the last recalcitrant with several water cannons, troops, and a light armored vehicle that scattered the barricades.
