“How do I think I’m perceived?” “How would I like to be perceived?” Starting from this tension between the gaze we endure and the gaze we desire, Yann Levy created a series of portraits with students from the horticultural high school of Montreuil-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis, France). Through a process of staging and dialogue around the image, the project explores the construction of identity and the power of the photographic portrait as a space for self-affirmation and self-projection.
